Digital Engineering Design Center Space@Kent
The Digital Engineering & Design Center for Space Applications (DEDC Space@Kent) provides digital engineering lifecycle education and research opportunities to undergraduate students with year-long internships in the center. The internship entails learning about the digital engineering integrated development environment while designing, developing, testing, and implementing Aerospace Systems with a desired cybersecurity posture. The systems engineering lifecycle management integrates cyber-informed engineering principles as laid out in the Department of Energy initiative.
The DEDC Space@Kent is composed of ten intern students from Aerospace Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, and Mechatronics Engineering programs. The faculty advisors are:
- Joycelyn Harrison (Director)
- Benjamin Kwasa (Lead Faculty)
- Jeff Balcerski (Lead Faculty)
- Deniz Gurkan (Cybersecurity Lead)
- Syed A. M. Shihab
- Rui Liu
The curriculum is covered through weekly meetings with the faculty members while the students work on the projects using resources in a collaboration with .
