91ֿ’s Flashes Fighting Hunger Contactless Food Drive will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 1-4 p.m. at the intersection of Lincoln Street and Hilltop Drive. The collection station will be located on Hilltop Drive in front of Cartwright Hall.
This is the second year the university’s Community Engaged Learning and Campus Kitchen are hosting the citywide event as part of KSU Kickoff, a series of events to welcome new students to 91ֿ. All members of the 91ֿ and surrounding community are invited to participate by driving through the food drive station and dropping off nonperishable food and toiletry items.
“Since many current and new incoming students will be staffing the food drive, we’re hoping to have the community’s support to show that our community works hard to ensure food security and that Flashes Take Care of Flashes,” said Amanda Woodyard, director of Community Engaged Learning at 91ֿ.
All items collected will go to Portage County social service agencies and 91ֿ’s own Campus Kitchen, which provides hunger relief to 91ֿ students, faculty and staff through weekly food distributions and hot-meal programs.
