91²Ö¿â paused to honor Martin Luther King during a virtual ceremony on Jan. 21, 2021

In preparation for honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, 91²Ö¿â’s Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee is requesting that university divisions, departments and student organizations submit programming, activities and events (scheduled Jan. 25-Jan. 31, 2021) to the MLK Events Calendar by Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.

Through multiple organizations and collaborations on and off campus, 91²Ö¿â ended 2019 as a more sustainable campus. Those who contributed to sustainable efforts worked hard to reduce the university’s carbon footprint leading to the university being honored as a finalist for the 2020 Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Campus Sustainability Achievement Award  along with the 2019 Keep Ohio Beautiful award for Colleges and Universities.

A student gets tested for COVID-19 on campus

As part of 91²Ö¿â’s ongoing strategy to help stop the spread of COVID-19, 91²Ö¿â has partnered with the city of Kent to bring the Ohio Department of Health’s Pandemic Testing Team to campus from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 for an open testing event

In an effort to ensure student access and success, 91²Ö¿â is waiving application fees for those who apply to the university in the month of November. 

91²Ö¿â’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Plus (LGBTQ+) Center holds a safe, physically distant small group kickoff event at the start of the 2020 Fall Semester. 

Campus Pride has released its 2020 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities list, and for the first time in school history, 91²Ö¿â has landed on the distinctive list as one of 40 institutions recognized over six U.S. regions.

The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities has selected 91²Ö¿â as one of four finalists for the association’s 2020 Degree Completion Award. The annual award works to identify, recognize and reward institutions that employ innovative approaches to improve degree completion while ensuring educational quality.
