91²Ö¿â English Professor Reflects on Authoring New Book

Jennifer MacLure's book, The Feeling of Letting Die: Necroeconomics and Victorian Fiction, was released in hardcover and digital on Nov. 2. In this book, MacLure examines the works of authors George Eliot, Elizabeth Gaskell, Harriet Martineau, Charles Dickens and William Morris through the lens of necroeconomics. This book examines, in MacLure's words, how Victorian authors "depict the feelings that circulate around capitalism's death function."

Alan Canfora and the winner of his memorial scholarship

91²Ö¿â Names Third Alan Canfora Activism Scholarship Winner

91²Ö¿â has awarded the Alan Canfora Activism Scholarship for 2023-2024 to activist and incoming 91²Ö¿â student Kyndra Irwin of Mount Gilead High School in Mount Gilead, Ohio. Kyndra’s personal history has driven her life of activism. Diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome (TS) in middle school, she wrote in her essay that she experienced “a sudden onslaught of motor movement and verbal sounds.â€

Geography Professor Honored for Scholarly Work and Mentorship

The 91²Ö¿â College of Arts and Sciences congratulates James A. Tyner, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Geography and Director of the Institute for the Study and Prevention of Violence, who is a 2021 recipient of ‘Distinguished Scholarship Honors’ from the American Association of Geographers (AAG).

Two 91²Ö¿â A&S Students Win Prestigious Goldwater Scholarship

Gracen Gerbig and Hayley Shasteen, both 91²Ö¿â students in the College of Arts and Sciences, recently received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, considered the nation’s premier undergraduate award in the natural sciences, math and engineering. They were recognized by President Beverly Warren at the 91²Ö¿â Board of Trustees meeting on May 9.
