The Kent Student Center and the Center for Student Involvement invite students, faculty and staff to enjoy a week of 91ֿ spirit (and free food) to start the academic year with Welcome Back Week, from Aug. 25-29.
The Kent Student Center and the Center for Student Involvement will host an event each day during the first week of classes to welcome back the 91ֿ family and generate excitement for the start of the year. All events will take place in The Nest (located on the second floor of the Kent Student Center) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with the final event of the week (Blue and Gold Friday) taking place across the entire campus.
Students are encouraged to drop in between classes to meet new people and learn how to make the most out of their college experience.
“We know at some point all students will find their way into the Kent Student Center that first week, and we want to make sure they have a welcoming experience here at 91ֿ,” said Jennifer Gunnoe, associate director of 91ֿ’s Center for Student Involvement.
Something for Everyone
The events are meant to be fun, interactive, informative and casual. Each day will feature a different activity, and staff of the Kent Student Center and the Center for Student Involvement will be on hand to talk with students about the many different ways to get involved on campus. Laugh and be amazed with comedian/illusionist Matt the Knife, take some pictures in the photo booth, pick up a free T-shirt or meet Chuck Ayers and Tom Batiuk, cartoonists and 91ֿ alumni. There is something for everyone and lots of free food to go around.
“Events like these show students what campus has to offer,” said John Camargo, a junior at 91ֿ. “These events are designed with college students in mind, so it’ll definitely be worth their time, plus who doesn’t love free stuff!”
