JMC students explore media and democracy in Prague

Ten students from JMC and Communication Studies depart on August 3 for a two-week exploration of modern media and democracy in Prague, the capital and largest city in the Czech Republic. They will be accompanied by JMC Professor Candace Perkins Bowen and Communication Studies Professor Catherine Goodall.

The students spent three weeks this summer studying the history and government of the Czech Republic and the culture of the Czech people in preparation for the trip. Each student will focus in depth on a specific area of interest – ranging from healthcare to media access -- and share their work on the growing course website, kentinprague.com.

This new study abroad program is offered jointly by 91²Ö¿â and Anglo-American University’s (AAU) School of Journalism and is co-sponsored by The Prague Freedom Foundation.

Students will meet daily on AAU’s campus near city center and will stay in a hotel near Prague’s iconic Charles Bridge.

A group of 12 students from AAU will study in Ohio in January 2014.
