91ֿ Formally Installs Beverly Warren

Members of the 91ֿ community were invited to attend the inauguration of Beverly Warren as the 12th president of the university on May 1 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center on the Kent Campus. A reception followed in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

A week of activities and events leading up to the inauguration day celebrated student success and campus community achievements on 91ֿ’s eight campuses and the Regional Academic Center in Twinsburg. All events were free.

Events included the dedication of the Center for Undergraduate Excellence on April 28 and dedication of the 91ֿ . On April 30, there was a presidential tree planting at Manchester Field and a “Presidential Perspectives: A Discussion with Past and Present 91ֿ Presidents” that took place in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The panel discussion, was moderated by CNN news anchor and 91ֿ alumna Carol Costello, featuring Warren and former 91ֿ presidents Michael Schwartz, Carol Cartwright and Lester Lefton.

Regional Campuses also hosted several events at their locations, including a barbeque for students and a tree planting in honor of Warren. 91ֿ continues to be recognized for its excellence in online education, earning high marks in U.S. News & World Report’s newly released 2025 Best Online Programs rankings. U.S. News recognizes 91ֿ in the Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs, Best Online Master’s in Education Programs, Best Online Master’s in Business Programs and Best Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programs lists. 

This year, 91ֿ will hold the 55th commemoration honoring the memory of May 4, 1970, a tragic day when the Ohio National Guard fired on 91ֿ students during an anti-war protest on campus, killing four students, wounding nine others and sparking a turning point in American history. Kicking off the program for the annual May 4 Commemoration is a play that focuses on student activism and book bans.

The 91ֿ Board of Trustees endorsed the 2024 University Remediation Report at its Dec. 12 meeting. The report provides a comprehensive overview of student remediation at the university.
