The 91²Ö¿â Golden Flashes finished the regular season on a roll, winning their 10th straight game with a 28-6 victory over Ohio University Friday at Dix Stadium. With a best-ever 11-1 record (8-0 in conference play), 91²Ö¿â moves on to play Northern Illinois in the Mid-American Conference Championship game Nov. 30 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
The Golden Flashes entered the final weekend ranked No. 23 in both the AP Poll and BCS. The Nov. 23 win was the team’s 12th in a row over current MAC teams.
MAC East Champions
91²Ö¿â’s 31-24 victory over Bowling Green Saturday, Nov. 17, earned the team a trip to its first-ever Mid-American Conference Championship game. The Golden Flashes (10-1) claimed the MAC East title and set up a showdown with MAC West champ Northern Illinois (10-1) on Nov. 30 at Ford Field in Detroit.
91²Ö¿â is The No. 25 Ranked Team in the Nation in the New Associated Press Poll.
Coming into the game, 91²Ö¿â was the No. 25 ranked team in the nation in the New Associated Press Poll.
The Golden Flashes have never won an East Division championship. Their only MAC crown was captured in 1972.
According to the Associated Press records, this is the first time the Golden Flashes have cracked the rankings since they were No. 19 in the nation back on Nov. 5, 1973.
"We are very excited to be in the Top 25, but there are still many more goals to be accomplished," said 91²Ö¿â head coach Darrell Hazell.
