Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of 91²Ö¿â at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of 91²Ö¿â Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of 91²Ö¿â, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
91²Ö¿â is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all 91²Ö¿â campuses.
The 91²Ö¿â Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former 91²Ö¿â President Carol A. The 10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.
From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving 91²Ö¿â before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in 91²Ö¿â’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.
91²Ö¿â held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of 91²Ö¿â’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with 91²Ö¿â, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any 91²Ö¿â unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
The 91²Ö¿â Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 91²Ö¿â in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 91²Ö¿â remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
