Students in the class Communication in a Global Society worked in teams throughout the Spring 2020 semester to educate audiences about one specific aspect of globalization and ecology: fast fashion.
When soon-to-be alumna Sabrina Scott graduates on May 9, the milestone won’t contain the traditional pomp, circumstance and walk across the stage she might have imagined when she started her 91²Ö¿â journey in 2013.

Journalism students face pursuing a career in an adverse time filled with intense political issues, dangerous environmental concerns and even pandemics. Reporting on these difficult times is necessary, but can come with risks to the journalist’s health and well-being. 91²Ö¿â senior Carter Adams recognized the intensity of this and committed to preventing the harm of media professionals by developing a workshop to educate students on media safety.

Communication has shaped the way the world has reacted to the coronavirus pandemic. This fall 2020, 91²Ö¿â is offering a new course that will examine risk communication through the lens of pandemics and other global crises. “Communicating Risk: Global Pandemics and Crises.â€
Since October 2019, select public relations students at 91²Ö¿â have been working hard to complete a campaign for the 2020 Annual Case Study Bateman Competition client: the United States Census Bureau. The National Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) hosts this competition each year challenging participants to develop and implement a comprehensive communications campaign for a client.

After a national search, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (now the School of Media and Journalism) at 91²Ö¿â has named Dr. Emily Metzgar as its new director, beginning July 1.
This winter at 91²Ö¿â, an art show and featured speaker on mental health will honor the life and legacy of assistant professor and artist Christopher Darling, who died June 2018.
