African Community Theatre
The African Community Theatre (ACT), located in Oscar Ritchie Hall, was founded in 1973 as a part of the Center for Pan-African Culture. The African Community Theatre is an academic unit and a premier theatre facility, created to raise awareness about theatres and performances by African and African Diasporic peoples.
The African Community Theatre offers several Pan-African theatre courses and runs programs throughout the year. The theatre is open to students and local residents of all ages and encourages their participation in its theatrical productions. Students enhance communication skills and gain awareness and appreciation of the African-American heritage as depicted through theatre. If interested in poetry, costuming, acting or directing, the theatre would appreciate your participation.
