online writing lab (owl)

The OWL (Online Writing Lab) provides students who may not be able to schedule a visit to The Writing Center an opportunity to receive helpful input on their writing assignments via email.  The OWL, like the Writing Center, is free to any student enrolled at 91²Ö¿â Tuscarawas. The OWL can help with writing assignments and projects for any class, at any level.

HOW DO I USE THE OWL?

Send an Email to the Writing Center describing your writing assignment and its due date, identifying the class and instructor, and detailing how you would like a Writing Assistant to help you. Attach a draft of your paper to this Email. NOTE: Be sure your attachment is in Microsoft Word Format.

Address your Email to tuscwritingcenter@listserv.kent.edu with the subject heading â€œPaper for OWL from...â€

If you wish, you may follow up by revising and resubmitting your draft for further discussion of your questions and concerns.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A REPLY?

You may submit a paper at any time. The Writing Assistants will check for incoming Email when they are not on duty during Writing Center hours Monday through Thursday. While you may receive a response the same day you submit your draft, you should plan for a day’s turnaround. Papers submitted Thursday after 1 p.m. through Sunday will not receive a response until the following Monday.

Because of the limited hours of the Writing Center schedule, submitting papers online should not be considered as a last minute option. Never send papers less than 24 hours before they are due.  For additional writing resources go to: Kent Writing Centers Portal.
