Students Sydney Marksberry and Austin Brewster at the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships

This past summer, two 91²Ö¿â students were awarded medals in the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships, sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the country. It is the highest level at which figure skating takes place at the college level.

The 2022 Fall Semester is officially underway, and no new school year would be complete without KSU Kickoff. Residence halls move-in corresponded with KSU Kickoff check-in, which was followed by three days of activities on and off campus.

Meet 91²Ö¿â Police Department’s newest K-9 officer, Salem, three-month-old Labrador Retriever and Sgt. Anne Spahr.

Still in training, this 4-month-old Labrador Retriever will be partnered with Sgt. Anne Spahr. Salem’s cuteness has been featured on all the , and he’s already stealing many hearts!

With a backdrop of strobe lights, rock music and excitement, 91²Ö¿â President Todd Diacon kicked off the start of the 2022 Fall Semester by encouraging new students to lean on one another during the university's traditional convocation ceremony.

The 91²Ö¿â alumni family will grow by more than 5,000 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Spring Class of 2022 will be recognized with in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on May 12-14 and May 20 and a virtual commencement ceremony for all colleges and degrees on May 15.

91²Ö¿â is the sole university in the U.S. to receive the prestigious 2022 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators. The honor recognizes 91²Ö¿â for overall excellence in integrating international education throughout all facets of the university and its campuses.

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has awarded 91²Ö¿â the esteemed R1 status for research, which is the highest recognition that doctoral universities can receive. The prestigious designation affirms 91²Ö¿â’s place as an elite research institution and puts the university in the company of universities such as Yale, Harvard and the University of California-Berkeley. 

Flashes Fighting Hunger Mobile Food Pantry

The new Flashes Fighting Hunger initiative takes the last 10 years to a new level, going beyond a kitchen that provides meals by becoming a program that prevents food waste, promotes food recovery and hosts multiple food pantries each week to serve the region.

Roseann “Chic†Canfora, Professional-in-Residence

Roseann "Chic" Canfora, Ph.D., joined the School of Media and Journalism as a Professional-in-Residence this fall. She was also a student at 91²Ö¿â, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings.
