Educators from across the country recently attended the weeklong, virtual 2021 Landmarks of American History and Culture workshop, “Making Meaning of May 4: The 1970 91�ֿ� Shootings in U.S. History,” which has been made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Beginning this fall, 91�ֿ� at Trumbull will offer Trumbull Correctional Institution incarcerated individuals a chance to complete a Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS).

The National Wildlife Federation recently awarded 91�ֿ� first place in two categories from the 2021 Campus Race to Zero Waste competition: Zero Waste and Electronics Recycling – Total Pounds Recycled. 

91�ֿ� is one of 61 organizations nationwide – and one of four organizations in Ohio – to be awarded a 2021-2022 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read grant. The university’s $20,000 grant will support the Big Read Northeast Ohio, a community reading program and related events focusing on “An American Sunrise” by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo from October 2021 through May 2022.

Born five decades ago as the Kent Gay Liberation Front at 91�ֿ�, PRIDE! Kent is the country’s oldest continuously operating LGBTQ student organizations. This campus organization owes its existence in large part to the boldness and courage of one person, Dolores Noll, Ph.D.

Update: The Global Vaccine Poem project is finding success with more than 1,900 submissions so far from more than 100 countries. The project is a collaboration between the Wick Poetry Center and the University of Arizona Poetry Center. 

Juneteenth Jubilee will include vendors, a live DJ, dancing and mingling with those in the Kent community.

91�ֿ� alumna Jeannette Reyes, ’12, uses TikTok for fun outside of her television anchor responsibilities at FOX 5 Washington, D.C. Last October, Reyes posted a video with her husband using their “anchor talk” voices to decide on choices for dinner. She never expected her video to gain so much momentum.
