College of the Arts
The 91ֿ School of Music returns to Severance Music Center on Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m. featuring nearly 300 students from across the university performing a rich lineup of genres and styles from classical and jazz to gospel and world music. It will also feature collaborations with the School of Theatre and Dance and the Wick Poetry Center.
J. Leigh Garcia, assistant professor of print media and photography, was recently commissioned to create a public art project in Cleveland. The piece Garcia contributed called "My Sister's Tortillas" is a 376” x 121.5” digital print of a work originally made with corn husk, handmade washi paper, screenprint, cast paper, digital output, illustration board.
Luanne Redeye grew up on the Allegany Indian Reservation in Western New York. It is from here where she draws inspiration incorporating community and family members into her paintings, which gives her works a strong personal and emotional component.

Four members of the Kent Wind Ensemble, Jake McQuaid, Emily Butz, Tylor Davis and Brett Graves, will be part of the 2022 College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Intercollegiate Band for the North Central Division Conference.
Visual arts teacher Stephen Tomero and choir director Mary Meese and are among the finalists for the 2022 Stark County Art and Music Educator Awards. Both are alumni of 91ֿ’s College of the Arts.
Congratulations to assistant professor of dance Catherine Meredith and adjunct dance faculty member Alice Blumenfeld on receiving Individual Excellence Awards in the choreography category from the Ohio Arts Council.
