Our Staff and Authority

The department is comprised of both sworn law enforcement officers and civilian support staff. Officers have full police authority in the state of Ohio, and the campus is patrolled 24 hours a day. Officers utilize cruisers, bikes, utility vehicles, and feet to patrol campus and other University-owned property.

Our Communications Center

We maintain our own multijurisdictional emergency communications center. The communications center is staffed with professional public safety telecommunicators capable of effectively communicating with people, determining the best options to assist them, and sending first responders if needed.

Our Philosophy

The community policing philosophy is engrained in our organization. We believe that community policing has positive impacts on the community, people’s perceptions of safety, and enhances the quality of life within the 91²Ö¿â community. Through partnerships and problem-solving techniques, we proactively address conditions that give rise to public safety concerns.  We rely on collaborative partnerships with individuals, other university departments, and our community partners to develop impactful public safety strategies and increase our community’s trust in our services.
