Three 91²Ö¿â student business owners recently competed against each other and three other startup teams from around Northeast Ohio. Of the six businesses that were finalists in ProtoTech: Pitch, the Incubator at MAGNET’s technology start-up pitch competition, half were founded by 91²Ö¿â students. Only faculty and staff can request alumni data, which can be used for such purposes as accreditation surveys, event invitations or department mailings. In celebration of National Engineers Week, 91²Ö¿â at Tuscarawas is holding the 34th annual Engineering Technology Opportunity Expo on Feb. 25 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Student Union of Founders Hall. The expo is open and free to the public. A 91²Ö¿â student’s interpretive sign project is helping the university become more environmentally friendly. Krisztina Janossy, who graduated this past December, started her interpretive design project for sustainable features on the Kent Campus. Janossy created signs at three sites located behind Henderson Hall and the Liquid Crystal Institute®: the butterfly garden, peatland wetland and permeable pavement. 91²Ö¿â’s Office of the University Architect and University Facilities Management, both part of the Division of Business and Finance, collaborated in an effort to unearth several large trees on Summit Street and relocate them outside the Center for the Performing Arts on Main Street. The trees, which are 5-12 inch caliper in diameter and up to 20 feet tall, were transplanted to prepare for road expansions and other construction on Summit Street as part of the Summit Street Improvement Project. Three communication studies graduate students recently returned from Lisbon, Portugal after studying abroad in the School of Communication Studies’ Global Scholar Exchange program during the Fall of 2015.  Samyak Moktan, a second-year global communication studies graduate student, came to 91²Ö¿â in 2014 from Kathmandu, Nepal after obtaining her undergraduate degree in mass communication and journalism from Purbanchal University in Nepal.
