ICKM

History of ICKM

For Knowledge Management as a discipline to succeed, it needs to draw on the support of different areas and disciplines. Therefore, a platform was needed to bring together both academics and practitioners. In mind with the interdisciplinary nature of this field, the International Council of Knowledge Management (ICKM) was founded in Vienna in 2010 by Prof. Franz Barachini and Prof. Christian Stary.

The council promotes the International Conference on Knowledge Management (ICKM) which was started by Prof. Suliman Hawamdeh in 2004 in Singapore. Both the council and the conference aim to bring academics and practitioners of various disciplines together. The council’s goal is to encourage worldwide scientific collaboration, address issues relevant to today’s industrial problems while delivering tangible benefits to the society.

Building on the successes of ICKM conferences, a leading international forum for researchers and practitioners will continue to be provided. Membership in the council is open to all researchers and practitioners working in KM and related fields.

Although everybody may openly and freely present ideas and theories on the council’s homepage, proceeding publication of the ICKM conference is limited to peer-reviewed papers, an approach that should guarantee high scientific quality.
