Administrative Assistant
Community Engaged Learning in University College
Kent Campus

WORKED AT KENT STATE SINCE:

November 2021

JOB DESCRIPTION:

I support our director, associate director, program coordinators, GAs, and student employees in achieving department goals through student functions and activities. I coordinate daily business functions and tasks, and assist with programs/projects. I am a member of the University College Events Committee and also serve as receptionist for visitors to our department.

EMPLOYMENT PRIOR TO KENT STATE UNIVERSITY:

At NEOMED: I was a Program Assistant for student affairs, Senior Generalist in Human Resources and Program Coordinator in Center for Student Wellness for 9 years prior to joining KSU. Before NEOMED, I spent 17 years at the former Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. The first few years was as a registration and scheduling clerk, nursing unit secretary, and ending my career there in Human Resources. I also have experience in manufacturing, banking, and insurance.

LIKES MOST ABOUT KENT STATE:

The energy that the students and employees exude. There are a lot of 'fun' things that seem to always be happening on campus. And I enjoy my co-workers and colleagues in University College. They have all made me feel very welcome; I do not feel 'new' here.

ATTRACTION TO KENT STATE AS AN EMPLOYER:

I enjoy so much that higher education offers students, faculty and staff. Everything they offer the employees by way of compensation and benefits. Plus the atmosphere of a larger university was very appealing to me. I am a native of this area and very familiar with KSU. Have always wanted to be part of the Flash family; had heard so many good things from friends and family who already work here.

RESIDES IN:

Portage County, Ohio

HOMETOWN:

Ravenna, Ohio

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science in Business Management with an HR specialization from Indiana Wesleyan University

HOBBIES:

I enjoy being with family and friends at gatherings and events. I enjoy watching baseball or football on TV or attending in person; but I have no vested interest; I just like to watch the sport. I enjoy riding my bike on the local hike and bike trails and exploring the area for new trails. I enjoy travelling when opportunities to do so arise. I love being around and meeting new people and learning about their history. I also like to cook or bake when I have time.
