Program Highlights

The purpose of the project is to examine and compare the integration of Indigenous food system and land stewardship initiatives in Mexico and Canada, and the contributions to climate justice.

As a continuation of an existing community partnership at Lake Xochimilco, Mexico City, this research will include policy analyses to understand the impact of international, national, and local policies to indigenous food systems.  Interviews will be conducted with growers and community leaders in Kainai Nation focusing on climate justice and indigenous cultural preservation.

Ideally, this program will complement the spring break study abroad program to Mexico City.
