A Message from Dean Angela Spalsbury Regarding Fall 2020 Semester

Dear 91²Ö¿â Geauga and Twinsburg Students,

I want to provide you with an update as to how 91²Ö¿â Geauga and the Twinsburg Academic Center are moving forward for the Fall 2020 semester.

Under the guidance of the administration, we have chosen to offer many of our courses remotely, for the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. However, several courses will still be face-to-face or have a hybrid component. Our campus’s academic team is still working through the specifics of each course. You will receive an email to your kent.edu account with your revised fall course schedules during the first week of July.

In the meantime, please know that we are working on upgrading and fine-tuning our technology in each classroom. This will allow students who are immunocompromised or have underlying health conditions the ability to participate remotely in face-to-face classes. Faculty are continuing to prepare their courses, whether in-person or remote, to give all students the same engaging learning experiences. Our facility team is installing plexiglass shields, signage, and sanitation stations throughout the Geauga Campus and Twinsburg Academic Center, so all are safe upon their return to campus.

We recognize that many of you have suffered direct economic hardships during the pandemic. If you have any financial concerns about returning for the 2020-2021 academic year, please contact the campus’s financial aid office at 330-888-6384 or jcorne17@kent.edu. We received funding from the Lake-Geauga Fund of the Cleveland Foundation to award to students in financial need; we’ve also welcomed two new scholarships that are slated to open for applications in August. We remain one of the most affordable options for a four-year degree in our regions.

We are here for you! We want you to succeed and will do what we can to help you stay on the path to finishing your degree.

We understand that you may have concerns about this plan for Fall, but please know we are doing our best and are taking your health and safety into significant consideration when finalizing details. We want to provide a safe yet engaging learning experience for you as you continue towards your educational goals. Thank you for your continued patience during these unique times.

Please take care, stay well, and reach out to our campus staff if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Dr. Angela Spalsbury
Dean and Chief Administrative Officer
