NUTRITION AND DIETETICS

The Nutrition and Dietetics Program has three distinct programs:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition
  • Master’s of Science in Nutrition
  • Master’s of Science in Nutrition with a dietetic internship concentration (only students who have a DPD verification statement can apply)

The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition provides students with a broad general education and a strong foundation in nutrition, dietetics and the sciences. The emphasis is integrating theory, research and application of knowledge to the profession of dietetics. The curriculum meets the Didactic Program in Dietetics requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and graduates are eligible for admission to accredited internships and obtain a verification statement as an accredited nutrition program of ACEND.The Master of Science degree in Nutrition emphasizes a strong nutritional sciences foundation through coursework and opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research. The Master of Science degree culminates with the completion of a Master Thesis or Project.The Master of Science with the concentration of the dietetic internship is designed to prepare dietetic interns to become entry-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) with the added strength of a Master of Science in Nutrition.  Interns will be provided with a professional and academic environment in which to develop the skills needed to become competent in the areas of nutrition therapy, community dietetics, management, business, and leadership. Upon program completion, graduates will receive a DI verification statement documenting completion of the internship requirements and will be eligible to write the registration exam to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN).
