Meet the Accountants Night Career Fair
- Kent
September 12, 2024 | 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm│ Kent Student Center (KSC), Rm. 218
The Meet the Accountants Night Career Fair is a coordinated effort by the Career Services Office, Department of Accounting, and partnering companies seeking to hire talent for internships and full-time positions.
Prepare Before the Career Fair:
- Plan to attend Prep Session for Meet the Accountants Night. At BAP Meeting August 28, 2024 11:30 - 1:30 p.m.
- Research organizations participating in the fair that interest you and prepare a few questions or discussion points for the recruiters with those companies.
- Update your resume and print plenty of copies to distribute at the career fair.
- Craft your elevator pitch. Your elevator pitch is your quick, personal selling statement. It should include who you are, your major, a specific professional goal or interest, how you’ve demonstrated your interest and experience in your field, why you are qualified for the position OR why you want to pursue a specific graduate program, and a closing remark. Check out our tips and tricks for crafting your elevator pitch HERE!
- Update your Handshake profile. Make sure your Handshake profile is up to date with all of your work experiences, skills, volunteer activities, student organization involvement, relevant coursework, profile photo, interests, etc. View this to make sure your profile is ready to go!
- Submit your applications before the career fair for any internship/full-time positions that match your goals. You are not required to submit applications before event and this step can be completed after the event if you like. But if you feel it’s a good match, why wait!?
- Dress in professional attire on the day of the event. Visit the career closet in CED (Schwartz Center) to access professional attire!

During the Career Fair:
- Check-in and plan your route using the provided room map. Approach each recruiter with your prepared introduction and questions.
- Hand over a copy of your resume to recruiters early in your conversation with them.
- Collect contact information, materials, and next steps from each recruiter you connect with for following-up after the event.
- Be brave and stay engaged! This is your big moment to build your network and interact with recruiters who want to meet you! Push yourself to meet new people and make good use of this time.
Following the Career Fair:
- Follow up with recruiters within 24 hours that you connected with at the fair using email and LinkedIn messaging for speed and efficiency. Frame this message as a “Thank You” and express your appreciation for their time. Use this moment to express your continued interest in the opportunity. Confirm the next steps in the application process if you have questions.
- Confirm your applications are submitted for all internship/full-time positions that match your goals.
- Organize your contact details, notes, and interview timelines to easily track communications with recruiters regarding the next steps and interview scheduling details.
DO NOT CANCEL INTERVIEWS THAT HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED.
We expect you to follow through and complete all interviews that you have scheduled with a recruiter. Canceling (or even worse, ghosting completely) a scheduled interview is highly discouraged and very unprofessional.
Offer Acceptance Date for Students:
Employers may extend you an internship or full-time offer at any time after the career fair. As candidates are often interviewing with multiple firms + companies, we do ask employers/recruiters to allow two weeks for candidates to finalize an acceptance or submit a decline to an offer.
Student registration is encourage but not required.
