Minor in Medical Anthropology

91�ֿ�’s Minor in Medical Anthropology provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the cultural, social, and biological factors that influence health and healthcare practices around the world. This interdisciplinary program explores topics such as the impact of cultural beliefs on health behaviors, the social determinants of health, and the ways in which health systems operate within different societies. Students engage in critical analysis of health-related issues, developing skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods. This minor complements majors in fields such as anthropology, public health, and nursing, equipping graduates with valuable insights for careers in healthcare, public policy, and community health advocacy.

Medical Anthropology is the fastest growing sub-discipline of anthropology with a variety of applications. It is a broad field that includes medical and psychiatric anthropology, global health, disability, social suffering, humanitarianism, death and dying, caregiving, public health, medical ethics, human rights and medical humanities.

Admissions for Medical Anthropology - Minor

Admission Requirements

The Medical Anthropology minor is not accepting students at this time.

Admission to a minor is open to students declared in a bachelor’s degree, the A.A.B. or A.A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree (not Individualized Program major). Students declared only in the A.A. or A.S. degree or the A.T.S. degree in Individualized Program may not declare a minor. Students may not pursue a minor and a major in the same discipline.
