Leading a Lean Transformation

The leadership group in an organization plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and have direct responsibility for achieving results. At the same time, their functional areas (and even their own roles) will be affected as Lean techniques eliminate non-value-added activities. As a result, it is essential that this group understands why improvement is required, their important role in the Lean organization and how they can contribute to success.

In order for any organization to continue to deploy Lean successfully, the leadership needs a strong working knowledge of Lean in enough detail to allow them to begin applying select Lean approaches in their everyday work. This is accomplished through a series of practical hands-on exercises designed to develop these skills.

  • The Business Case for Lean
  • What is Waste and How to Identify It
  • Voice of the Customer
  • Value Stream Management
  • High-level Review of the Lean Toolbox Using the R-DMAIC Roadmap
  • Developing, Managing and Nurturing a Lean Thinking Culture (Roles and Responsibilities)
  • Leadership Engagement to Build a Culture of Continuous Improvement
  • Standardized Work for Leaders (Huddles, Gemba Walks, A3 Problem Solving)
