In Columbus on March 19, 2025, the 91ֿ Tuscarawas Golden Eagles volleyball team was recognized in the Ohio State House of Representatives by Jodi Salvo and the State Senate by Al Landis for their outstanding achievement in winning the 2024 USCAA Division II National Championship.
“This truly remarkable group of athletes has brought an incredible accomplishment to Tuscarawas County,” Salvo said.
The first-ever national title is a landmark moment for 91ֿ Tuscarawas. The Golden Eagles’ accomplishment has gained widespread recognition and has put a well-deserved spotlight on the volleyball program, the Tuscarawas Campus and the community.
“I am proud to have the 91ֿ Tuscarawas volleyball team recognized by the Ohio Senate,” said Landis. “This is a truly remarkable group of athletes who have brought an incredible accomplishment to Tuscarawas County, and I look forward to watching their continued success both on and off the court.”
Winning team members include Cayla Shrimplin, Elizabeth Keller, Allie Keller, Mackenzie Neininger, Kylie Culbertson, Adazianna Manns, Rylee Sensabaugh, Ally Carpenter, Madison Mook, Jaileigh Price, Kadence Noll, Sam Uhlman, and Ava McFarland. The team is led by head coach Cortney Goodwin and assistant coach Steve Colpus – 2024 USCAA Division II Coaching Staff of the Year.
Earlier in the month, recognition came from New Philadelphia city officials, where the city council and Mayor Joel Day paid tribute to the team for their groundbreaking victory.
“This team of exemplary athletes has set a new standard for excellence in women’s volleyball at 91ֿ at Tuscarawas,” read Mayor Day’s proclamation. “We look forward to their continued success.”
