CCP Student Receives Writing Award

91ֿ Tuscarawas College Credit Plus (CCP) sophomore Breanna Burrier received the College Writing II Academic Research Writing Award at the 2019 Spring Awards Ceremony recently.

Her award-winning paper, titled “English as a Second Language for Elementary Students,” is the result of a class project during her College Writing II class with Dr. Nicole Willey. Students were given the opportunity to spend time and interact with students, teachers and staff in the New Philadelphia West Elementary School.

“It helped me gain more insight and gave me an opportunity for community involvement ,” said Breanna. “I got to see all sides of the language barrier, from the kids to the teachers to the translators.”

Eighteen-year-old Breanna is a sophomore studying Psychology. After graduating from Tusky Valley High School in May, she will attend 91ֿ to pursue her dream of being a pediatric psychiatrist. As a CCP student, Breanna is set to earn 51 credit hours at the end of the spring semester at 91ֿ Tuscarawas.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities at 91ֿ Tuscarawas – they prepared me for the future,” said Breanna.
