WKSU Hosts Election Night Celebration of Democracy

Celebrate democracy with an election night party at WKSU’s Broadcast Center at 91²Ö¿â. Starting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, guests will be invited to enjoy snacks and activities – including selfie stations, station tours and keeping tabs on the big maps – as they watch WKSU News in-studio reporters cover the results of the 2018 midterm elections live. On-air analysts will stop by the party room for brief Q&As that will be available via Facebook Live. The event is free, and guests can learn more and register at .

With all of Ohio’s U.S. House seats on the block, along with hotly contested statewide races for U.S. Senate, governor, attorney general, secretary of state, auditor and treasurer, the WKSU News staff is already deep into this election season, posting stories in the Balance of Power: The Politics, Policies and People section under the news tab at WKSU.org. Election night is the culmination of the campaigning, advertising, debating and sparring as candidates race for a finish in an uncertain political climate.

Along with the on-air team in Kent and reporters on the road in Northeast Ohio, WKSU's election night coverage will include statewide information from the Ohio Statehouse News Bureau, national results and insights from NPR, real-time updates at and social media posts on Facebook () and Twitter ().

In-studio election night analysis will come from Ryan Claassen, professor in the Department of Political Science at 91²Ö¿â; Danielle Sarver Coombs, associate professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at 91²Ö¿â; Barbara Palmer, professor of political science, legal studies coordinator, and creator and executive director of the BW Center for Women and Politics of Ohio at Baldwin Wallace University; and Karen Beckwith, Flora Stone Mather Professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at Case Western Reserve University.
