Get a slice of the action at Homeslice Pizzeria, the newest edition to the Hub in the Kent Student Center.
This year the student center celebrated its 50th anniversary. Homeslice Pizzeria was an idea that began at the end of August to fill a recent vacant spot in the Hub.
“We opened on the 50th anniversary of the student center on the 50th day of class of that year,” said Eliot Norris, associate director and campus executive chef for University Culinary Services. “We wanted to have all the Hub spaces open down there.”
Currently, the menu includes pepperoni, cheese, veggie, sausage, margarita and a spinach and mushroom pizza. There will also be a rotating speciality pizza each week. A gluten free vegan crust is also available for students.
“Pizza by the slice was the decision,” Norris said. “At the end of August, we went through all of the recipes and products and things like that to get that moving.”
Piper Lash, a freshman with an exploratory major, appreciates the dietary inclusion that Homeslice Pizzeria offers.
“I’m at the student center two to three times a week, and this is a quick and easy meal,” Lash said. “They have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options which are great for my dietary restrictions.”
Homeslice Pizzeria opened Nov. 7. Its business hours are Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. It is available with a declining balance or a credit card.
