Today is Flash the Mascot's 38th birthday!
To answer the question "Which came first?" – It was the egg. Flash hatched from an egg, mid-field at halftime on Oct. 12, 1985, during the Homecoming football game at Dix Stadium. The fiberglass egg had been created by students in the 91²Ö¿â Technology Education Club, who put in more than 300 hours to construct a giant egg out of fiberglass and resin
The egg was moved into Dix Stadium after riding down East Main Street on a float, with cheerleaders sittting on top of it during the Homecoming parade.
