IN A FLASH: A Flash in the Sky!

Lightning strikes near 91²Ö¿â Airport

During a recent storm, three or four bolts of lighting struck behind the hangar at the 91²Ö¿â Airport. It happened as a staff member was rolling up the hose near the gas pump in the foreground of this image.

Michael Gershe, senior advisor II from 91²Ö¿â's College of Aeronautics and Engineering, said, "I was standing just outside the door and saw the bolts. Within a half second or less: the big boom of thunder. It was cool and yet scary at the same time." Gershe captured the above image from a monitor showing the feed from one of the airport's security cameras.
