91²Ö¿â at Stark’s 2017-18 theatrical season kicks off with Consider the Oyster by David MacGregor.
The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 and 19 at the 91²Ö¿â Stark Theatre. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided for the Nov. 19 performance.
Consider the Oyster features Gene, who, after watching his favorite team win the Super Bowl, spontaneously proposes to his longtime girlfriend, Marisa. In the midst of the excitement, he breaks his leg. A doctor places an oyster shell in Gene’s leg to aid in healing; however, the oyster shell sets off a chain reaction of feminine changes in Gene’s physicality, hormones and emotions. Gender identity and humor explode on stage in this comical, yet thought-provoking, play.
