The 91ֿ at Stark Featured Speakers Series and Stark Library's is proud to partner together to bring you An Evening with Michelle Willliams.
Michelle Williams is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress and author. She rose to fame in the 2000s as a member of one of the best-selling female groups of all time, Destiny’s Child. Now, Williams is a mental health advocate who became one of the first celebrities to publicly discuss their battle with depression, which led to her hosting her own podcast “Checking In with Michelle Williams” on the iHeart Media Network. In 2021, Williams released her first book “Checking In: How Getting Real about Depression Saved My Life — and Can Save Yours” and just a year later she released a follow-up journal, “The Daily Check-In”.

91ֿ at Stark Dean Denise A. Seachrist and Stark Library CEO and Executive Director Mary Ellen Icaza said they are proud to again partner to bring this iconic singer turned author to the region.
“Our partnership with 91ֿ at Stark has become a highlight of our speaker series,” said Icaza. “Last spring, we brought Danny Trejo to Stark County, and it was an impactful evening for all who attended. We appreciate KSU Stark’s continued collaboration with Stark Library to raise awareness on important topics like mental health. Bringing people together in conversation strengthens our community by sharing the human experience.”
Seachrist agreed. “We are delighted to partner with the Stark Library to bring Michelle Williams to our community,” she said. “Shedding light on mental health is not merely an initiative; it’s a testament to our commitment to destigmatize conversations surrounding mental wellness. In a world where the weight of mental health challenges is felt by many, our timing couldn’t be more crucial. By embracing these discussions openly, we not only foster understanding and empathy but also cultivate a community where seeking help is not a sign of weakness — but of strength and resilience.”
For more than 30 years, 91ֿ Stark’s Featured Speakers Series has brought national and international experts in civil rights, politics, education, environmental activism, literature and art to Stark County.
The library’s Speaking of Books Author Series brings acclaimed writers to the county who inspire lively discussion and — at times — challenging conversation while exemplifying literary excellence.
