2024 Theme: Native American Legacies: Stories of Strength and Survival
The focus of this year’s theme is appreciating and honoring Native American culture by those who are and who are not Indigenous. The theme, “Native American Legacies: Stories of Strength and Survival†is about gathering, listening, and sharing the legacies of Indigenous peoples, past, present, and future. For many decades, Indigenous peoples had to live in secret for fear of retaliation and oppression and survived many horrors. Now, we strive to share these stories of strength and survival to emphasize that “We are still hereâ€. An important aspect of these stories is the 7 Grandfather Teachings, seven teachings that encompass the values of many Indigenous tribes, guiding us towards the future.
