Campus Resource Officer Pat Diangelo Credited With Life Saving Actions
Ashtabula police officer and 91²Ö¿â at Ashtabula Campus Resource Officer Pasquale "Pat" DiAngelo was recently recognized at an Ashtabula City Council meeting with a commendation for meritorious service. In the span of two days in late July, DiAngelo was credited with life-saving actions of two men involved in two separate incidents.
He was presented with the commendation by Police Chief Robert Stell and also received a meritorious pin to wear on his uniform.
DiAngelo has nearly 50 years of service with the Ashtabula Police Department and has been the Campus Resource Officer at 91²Ö¿â Ashtabula since 2019.

Student Mental Health Visioning Puts Well-Being of Students in Focus
As the pandemic raged on throughout 2020, a plan was already in the works to better serve students' mental health.
It was executed at the right time.
After recognizing the need to continue focusing on mental health efforts as a university and stepping up its services, the thought process shifted to thinking critically about how best to offer support services and resources to the student population. Another priority became educating faculty, staff, and the entire campus community on how students can access those resources.
In 2019, Vice President for Student Affairs Lamar Hylton charged a university-wide steering committee led by Julie Volcheck, Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs and Director of University Health Services, and Manfred Van Dulmen, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies. They took a deep look at enhancing and expanding mental health services, seeing what was currently offered, and finding ways to fill any gaps.

The Listening Project
Four-Part Facilitated Dialogue 
The Listening Project is a four-part facilitated dialogue led by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This initiative aims to strengthen relationships among participants through intentional dialogue. The program seeks to build relationships among individuals; increase understanding of diversity and inclusion, gender, ethnic, racial, and other identities; and improve the climate and success of social and cultural well-being at KSU.
The Listening Project requires four facilitated sessions across the fall 2021 semester and encourages 1:1 partner connections outside of those sessions (at least once between sessions; connections can be virtual or face-to-face). Partner pairs will be assigned by the facilitators. Participants should plan to attend all four sessions to fully benefit from this project and be eligible for Tier 2 points toward the 2022 wellness rewards program.
Each session will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. Dates of the four sessions are:

- Oct. 7
- Oct. 28
- Nov. 18
Space is limited, so please be realistic about your availability to attend. If you cannot fully commit to these dates and times, consider leaving the space for someone else to register. This initiative is appropriate and encouraged for any full- or part-time 91²Ö¿â staff or faculty. The only requirements are your availability, an open mind, and a positive attitude. .

Fall Health Screenings & Flu Vaccine Clinics
Get a Jump Start on Tier 1 for 2022
Employee Wellness is pleased to announce that fall "Know Your Numbers" health screening dates are available for scheduling on the . This is in conjunction with the qualifying period for Tier 1 of the Wellness Your Way Rewards Program opening on September 1, 2021. 
Here is a reminder of reward program qualifying periods for 2021 and 2022:

*You must have completed Tier 1 to be eligible for the Tier 2 reward for 2021 
Those who qualified for Tier 1 for 2021 have until Oct. 15 to accumulate your 350 Tier 2 points and earn your $200 Tier 2 reward for 2021. As we close out Tier 2 for 2021 this fall, benefits-eligible faculty and staff can get a head start on Tier 1 for 2022. Employee Wellness will begin offering onsite "Know Your Numbers" health screenings and flu vaccine clinics at all KSU campuses beginning in September. Read on and/or visit the health screening web page for dates and information. 
Onsite health screenings are available to all full-time, benefits-eligible employees, regardless of whether you choose to participate in the wellness rewards program. You do not need to be covered by the university-sponsored health plan to participate in a health screening. 
For those who do choose to participate in the wellness rewards program, Tier 1 requirements include (1) completing a health screening, either onsite with Be Well Solutions or with your primary care physician, (2) completing the online Health Risk Assessment (HRA) on the Be Well portal, and (3) submitting the wellness program Consent, Waiver & Release Agreement from the portal. 
Employee Wellness encourages all employees to regularly see a primary care physician (PCP), including having your health screening completed with your regular doctor if you so choose, which can count toward Tier 1 in lieu of having a screening complete onsite with Be Well Solutions. Flu vaccines will be available at all fall onsite screenings, as well at a standalone flu vaccine clinic on Sept. 20. Flu vaccines are also available to spouses/partners and dependent children aged 18 or older.
