Giving Tuesday 2021 – Nurses Helping Future Nurses

From Touch Point Online Magazine, Fall 2021 - Vol. V, Issue 3

Giving Tuesday provides a great opportunity for the College of Nursing community to help bolster the 91²Ö¿â College of Nursing Emergency Fund. This fund provides immediate and flexible support for students in need and allows our future nurses to focus more on the classroom and less on their finances. Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving which occurs the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Created as a counterbalance to Black Friday and other events focused on consumerism, Giving Tuesday serves as an opportunity to reflect on philanthropy and paying it forward.

We know that when a student is forced to pause their education due to financial stress, it is often difficult for those students to pick back up and continue their educational journey. In a program such as nursing, financial hardship can derail a student’s ability to graduate on time.

Your support of the College of Nursing on Giving Tuesday will not only help support our students, but it will also help unlock matching funds within the College to maximize the impact of your gift.  Gifts to the Emergency Fund will be matched that day, and gifts to any fund in the College of Nursing will also be matched until the matching gift pool is exhausted. This means that if you traditionally support a different fund in the College of Nursing, you can still take advantage of this matching gift opportunity.

Over the coming months, more information will be shared about the opportunities for matching gifts as well as our participation incentives. One popular incentive set to return for Giving Tuesday 2021 is the Planned Giving incentive. Any donor that commits to a planned major gift, such as leaving 91²Ö¿â College of Nursing in your will, will be eligible for an immediate $1,000 match to help kick start the fund. This means you can see the immediate impact of your generosity and start helping our students instantly!

If you are interested in discussing a planned gift, taking advantage of matching gift opportunities or serving as a matching gift donor, please reach out to Corey Hukill at 330-672-8753 or at chukill1@kent.edu.
