Michael Carl
Dr. Michael Carl is a Distinguished Professor at 91²Ö¿â/USA and Director of the Center for Research and Innovation in Translation and Translation Technology (). He has worked and published for more than 25 years in the fields of Machine Translation, Computational Linguistics, Translation Studies and Translation Process Research. He has lived and worked in many parts of the world and organized numerous panels, tutorials, workshops, and conferences. For more than 10 years he maintains and extends Translation Process Research-Database (), a publicly available resource that contains several hundred of hours behavioral translation data (essentially keylogging and gaze data) collected during thousands of translation sessions and hundreds of translators with different profiles, language directions and expertise. His work in the past decade was mainly centered around the conceptualization, analysis, and evaluation, as well as the empirically grounded modelling of the CRITT TPR-DB data.
