Turn Your Dream of Studying Overseas Into Reality at the Education Abroad Expo

Have you ever imagined walking to class on the very streets where Michelangelo once traveled, or wanted to gaze at the Swiss Alps outside your classroom window before taking a study break at a local café?

The dream of studying overseas starts on the second floor of the Kent Student Center for the Education Abroad Expo on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Students will learn about the various study abroad programs, financial resources available, and the steps needed to get their plans underway. The expo enables students to meet with representatives from 91ֿ colleges, offices and departments to discuss which programs best match with their professional aspirations, schedule and budget.

“The Education Abroad Expo is a student’s 'one-stop shop' to get the gears going,” explains Senior Education Abroad Advisor Nick Vasiloff from 91ֿ’s Office of Global Education. “It’s where students can learn virtually everything they need to know before studying abroad.”

Throughout the expo, faculty, advisors, financial aid, insurance and travel specialists will host tables where students can establish connections to begin planning overseas study. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with Education Abroad staff members.

Because the stumbling block for most students pursuing a study abroad experience is a financial one, 91ֿ’s Office of Global Education will offer students the opportunity to win one of three $1,000 Education Abroad scholarships during the expo. Students simply have to register at the Education Abroad table. A drawing for the winners will be held immediately following the expo. Winners will be informed by email.

Several hosted tables will feature specific programs and destinations, such as 91ֿ Geneva, Switzerland; 91ֿ Florence, Italy and exchange programs in Japan, South Korea, United Kingdom.
