Fear of losing federal databases filled with decades of scientific research has sparked âdata rescueâ events over the past few weeks. The events consist of science professionals searching and pulling data before it could be lost forever from government servers.
The rescue efforts are the result of the Trump administrationâs proposal to make budget cuts for agencies including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.
91²Ö¿ââs Anne Jefferson, Ph.D., geology professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, took to Twitter to express her concerns about potential effects on the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).
âWeâll probably be saying goodbye to much of the invaluable data housed at the NCEI,â Jefferson wrote. âHope it gets rescued in time.â
