Anne Jefferson, Ph.D., associate professor of geology at 91ֿ’s College of Arts and Sciences, is speaking out about White House budget proposals that could impact Lake Erie and the surrounding areas.
Jefferson is passionate about finding solutions to growing environmental problems. The core of her research focuses on studying stormwater flooding and pollution.
“Like other Ohio scientists, my ability to do this research depends, in large part, on support from federal agencies,” Jefferson wrote in an editorial in The Plain Dealer.
Jefferson is concerned that a lack of funding would threaten the health of local and national environments, as well as the health of the people living there.
However, Jefferson applauds Congress and the Ohio delegation for their current funding for research and urges them to continue their commitment as they plan for the 2018 budget.
