Trumbull Memorial Hospital Supports 91ֿ Trumbull Nursing Program

Students and faculty of 91ֿ at Trumbull’s nursing program began the school year with eight upgraded hospital beds thanks to Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The donation marks a significant improvement for the campus nursing lab.

“We are truly appreciative of Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s generous support,” says Kathy Dwinnells, 91ֿ Trumbull nursing program coordinator. “These newer beds more closely resemble what future nurses will encounter in today’s hospitals.”

John Walsh, Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s chief executive officer, says the donation was made possible through the hospital’s equipment upgrade program.

“Many of 91ֿ Trumbull’s nursing students train at Trumbull Memorial and go on to become our employees,” Walsh says. “If we can provide equipment that enhances their education, then it’s a win-win for both organizations.”

91ֿ Trumbull currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. This four-year degree can be fully completed at 91ֿ Trumbull, with students fulfilling their clinical requirements at local healthcare facilities.

The 91ֿ Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed 91ֿ in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 91ֿ remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
