Kent Student Center Opens New Meditation Room

The Kent Student Center now features a meditation room, which is intended to serve as both an interfaith and nonreligious space. Located on the second floor across from the Governance Chambers, the meditation room provides a tranquil refuge for all students, faculty, staff and community members.

The space was designed to meet the increased demand for quiet space to practice a myriad of faith traditions and also to provide a sense of place and convenience for our growing segment of international students.

Prior to construction of the new 550-square-foot meditation room, the Kent Student Center offered a much smaller space for students to utilize for prayer and meditation. In addition to the size challenges, that space did not offer an ablution station for Muslim students to perform the ritual foot washing.

In addition to ablution stations, the meditation room offers storage for personal items and a large open space for quiet prayer, reflection or meditation. 

The space cannot be reserved and is available for use during open building hours.
