The Employee Wellness Office is pleased to feature our 91²Ö¿â faculty for the fall employee wellness speaker series, The Science of Healthy. This speaker series covers happiness and sleep, brain health and exercise, and the science of healthy eating. Topics and guest speakers include the following:
Sept. 18 – Jeff Ciesla, Ph.D., will share how sleep impairments contribute to poor health, including headache, obesity, high blood pressure, increased risk of accidents, and poor psychological health. The good news is that simple lifestyle changes can help to improve sleep quality. Dr. Ciesla will share ways that you can develop good “sleep hygiene†to effectively improve your sleep and minimize adverse health effects.
Oct. 3 – Angela Ridgel, Ph.D., C-EP, FACSM, will share the science behind exercise-induced brain changes, bringing forward current evidence regarding exercise-induced brain changes in aging and neurological disorders, and discussing optimal strategies for exercising your brain and body. Don’t be surprised if this presenter gets you “up-on-your-feet-and-out-of-your-seat†excited about brain science, and exercise!
Oct. 15 – Natalie Caine-Bish, Ph.D., RD, LD, will put swirling fads and misinformation to rest through factual nutritional evidence accompanied by quick and easy behavior modifications that support your nutritional goals.
