EHHS doctoral student wins first place in ACSM Research Awards.

Congrats to Exercise Physiology doctoral student Brittany Smith for winning first place in the 2024 American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Aging Interest Group Thematic Poster Research Awards.

The awards program recognizes exemplary achievements by promising students and early-career scientists in the field of aging and exercise. This year's theme is Physical Activity, Fitness, and Function: Emerging Findings on Aging.

Smith, who is also a student member of the 91²Ö¿â's Brain Health Research Institute, presented a poster titled Motor Responses to Patient-Specific Adaptive Dynamic Cycling in Individuals with Deep Brain Stimulation.

She was presented with the award during a ceremony this week at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, where the top three finalists gave a brief synopsis of their work during the networking portion of the Aging Interest Group meeting.

The AIG Awards Committee scored each abstract based on scientific quality and contribution to the field of aging using a standard scoresheet. For the student award, the top three finalists were determined based on the highest average ranked scores.
