Julie Mazzei, Ph.D., associate professor and interim director of the School of Multidisciplinary Social Sciences and Humanities, in the College of Arts and Sciences at 91²Ö¿â, will take part in a virtual roundtable discussion with her co-authors of an edited volume "Paramilitary Groups and the State under Globalization: Political Violence, Elites and Security", edited by Jasmin Hristov, Jeb Sprague and Aaron Tauss (London: Routledge, 2022) on February 23 from 2-3:30 pm EST online via Zoom.

Mazzei wrote a chapter in the volume which examines the phenomenon of paramilitarism across Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Asia, offering a nuanced perspective while identifying key patterns in the way paramilitary violence is implicated in processes of capital accumulation, state-building, and the reproduction of social power.
