Members of the Ashtabula Community,
As the Dean of 91²Ö¿â at Ashtabula, I want to update you on our plans for the Fall semester. During this time of uncertainty, we are focused on providing support and resources to our students and community to move Ashtabula County forward.
Our staff is working diligently and in concert with the Kent campus to make sure we have procedures in place to welcome our students back in the safest way possible. We have faculty and staff spending the summer researching and learning ways to make instruction, regardless of the environment, more interactive and engaging so our students may have the best educational experience possible.
The Ashtabula campus has received tremendous support from individuals, businesses and Foundations to increase financial assistance to students. With a low tuition rate, we are already one of the most affordable options for a four-year degree in our region, but now, during this crisis, we are finding ways through grants, scholarships and aid to provide even more financial support. For more information on financial support please visit www.kent.edu/ashtabula/aid or call 440-964-4217.
We recognize that many of you have suffered direct economic hardships during the pandemic. During difficult times such as these, furthering your education will provide you with the knowledge and skills for current or future jobs. With Ashtabula County unemployment rates of nearly 16 percent, now is the time to further develop your talents, re-tool or get a start on your future career. This great economy of ours will recover. And, when it does, you need to make sure you have the education to keep moving forward. To learn about our degree options, be sure to visit www.kent.edu/ashtabula or call 440-964-4217.
Over the next several weeks, we will continue to provide information on how our Fall semester will look, so I encourage you to visit our website and follow our social media channels for updates. Some classes will be face-to-face, others will use engaging interactive technologies to connect students with professors and classmates; and some classes will be online. Our goal is to provide a quality experience that will allow students to safely continue moving toward their educational goals.
91²Ö¿â Ashtabula is proud to continue to serve our community. For over 60 years, we have provided our citizens with affordable access to one of the top universities in the country. No matter what we face as a community or country, we have always been here to provide the best education possible.
Stay safe and take care of yourselves. I look forward to seeing many of you on the campus in the Fall.
Sincerely,
Susan J. Stocker, Ph.D.
