Giving Tuesday Campaign Launches for Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund

91ֿ Ashtabula’s annual Giving Tuesday fundraising drive begins on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, highlighted by the campaign to build the Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund.

“Giving Tuesday provides a unique opportunity to support our learners and create experiences that will last a lifetime,” said 91ֿ Ashtabula Interim Dean and Chief Administrative Officer R. William Ayres IV, Ph.D. “Our students face challenges outside of the classroom. Many of our students hold full-time jobs, support families and overcome other obstacles while they succeed in the classroom. The Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund will provide crucial support for the Ashtabula Campus for generations to come. Through this fund, the campus will be able to invest in new programs and projects to support the changing needs of our students and the communities we serve. The strategic flexibility offered by this endowment will enable the campus to continue to grow and evolve to meet new challenges.”

The fund was created in September with initial gifts from community leaders and long-time campus benefactors James E. Mayer Jr. and Glen and Nancy Warner, as well as an announced gift from the Molded Fiber Glass Foundation. Those gifts and funds raised during the Giving Tuesday campaign go toward a $500,000 endowment establishing the Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund.

The fund’s creation honors the service and contributions of a trailblazer and longest-tenured campus leader, former Dean and Chief Administrative Officer Susan J. Stocker, Ph.D., while helping sustain the campus’ mission through the creation of the endowment. The endowment will support student success initiatives, campus programming, equipment and technology needs, facility renovations or any expense related to the betterment of the campus and the students it serves.

The campaign’s kickoff also marks the start of 91ֿ’s month-long Giving Tuesday program. Through Tuesday, Nov. 28, gifts made to the Ashtabula Campus’s featured fund will be eligible for matches, boosts and other incentives. The first such opportunity comes on Oct. 31 with “Triple Your Gift Tuesday” when all gifts are matched by individual donors AND again by volunteer boards up to a $500 gift per donor.
