Flash Medical Center, a one-day hands-on experience for high school students interested in a healthcare-related field, returns to 91²Ö¿â at Ashtabula on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Last year, over 20 students from Ashtabula and Lake Counties participated in the inaugural event, which transformed Robert S. Morrison Hall into a “hospital†and simulated a “day in the life†of health care workers in the areas of nursing, radiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and respiratory care. Activities involved a simulated injury, patient transfers, use of X-ray machinery and patient recovery and therapy.
“The uniqueness of the event and its hands-on nature is really appealing to the students,†said Amanda Dolan, director of enrollment management and student services. “They get a taste for what the career is like and the teamwork involved amongst the different disciplines in a hospital setting.â€
Additionally, students who attend will have the opportunity to apply for an exclusive scholarship.
Interested students are encouraged to apply for the limited number of spaces available soon.
