Dean Susan Stocker Named Interim Regional College Dean

ASHTABULA, Ohio (April 23, 2015)— 91�ֿ� Provost Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Dr. Susan Stocker, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer for 91�ֿ� at Ashtabula, will be serving as Interim Dean of the Regional College for 91�ֿ� starting July 1. Stocker will continue in her capacity as dean of the 91�ֿ� Ashtabula campus while serving a two-year term as the Regional College interim dean. Stocker has led the Ashtabula campus as dean since 2001, and also served as interim dean of the College of Nursing during the 2013 academic year.

The Regional College is the academic unit for certificates and degrees only offered at 91�ֿ�’s seven regional campuses. The Regional College consists of 120 full-time faculty and program directors and houses nine programs with specialized accreditation, such as Ashtabula’s health degrees. Responsibilities of the Regional College dean include representing all regional campuses to 91�ֿ� administration, developing a strategic plan and annual goals for the growth of the regional campuses, and conducting reviews of degree programs and faculty appointments.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve in a leadership capacity at 91�ֿ� and to represent all regional campuses at the administrative level. Our regional campuses are an asset to the 91�ֿ� system and enable residents of Northeast Ohio to get a quality education close to home,” said Stocker.

The Regional College dean position is being left vacant by Dr. Wanda Thomas as she retires after 10 years of service to 91�ֿ�.

Fall Commencement Canceled, Campus Closing Due to Severe Weather

Due to ongoing severe weather and dangerous conditions on and around campus, the 91�ֿ� Ashtabula Campus will close today at 3 p.m.

All scheduled events for this evening, including Commencement, are canceled. Other ceremonies may be rescheduled for a later date.

While disappointed we will not be able to hold these special events tonight, the safety of our campus community and those guests planning to visit campus and celebrate is our top priority.

Ashtabula Campus's 79th Commencement Ceremony

91�ֿ� at Ashtabula will honor the fall graduating class when it holds the campus’s 79^h commencement exercises on Thursday, December 12, 2024, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Susan J. Stocker Hall gymnasium.

“Commencement is a major milestone in the lives of our students,” said Dean and Chief Administrative Officer R. William (Bill) Ayres IV, Ph.D. “It’s such a special night to celebrate the accomplishments and achievements of these graduates here on campus and in the familiar and intimate environment the event deserves.”

91�ֿ� Regional Campuses Announce Talent Ready Scholarships for Local Workers

Together with the College of Applied & Technical Studies (CATS) and the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE), 91�ֿ�'s Regional Campuses offer Talent Ready Scholarships up to $2,000. These scholarships, available through June 30, 2025, or when funds run out, will help local workers to enroll in specialized, industry-recognized certificate programs designed to open doors for career advancement.
