Chartered in 1965, the chapter is proud to be the first 91²Ö¿â Alumni Chapter! Serving over 5,000 alumni in Lake County, the chapter hosts a variety of events from gatherings at the Porthouse Theatre to an annual scholarship dinner.
We caught up with the Lake County Alumni Chapter President, Ray DelaMotte, ’77, to hear about the amazing things the chapter is doing.
What's the chapter's biggest accomplishment(s) within the last year?
Within the last year, the chapter has raised over $5,000 for the scholarship fund through three events, awarded two-$2,000.00 and one-$500.00 scholarship to students from Lake County and collaborated with the Greater Cleveland chapter on events.
What is the chapter most looking forward to this year?
The chapter is most looking forward to hosting events that promote academic and civic interest, such as tours of the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and the Crawford Auto Museum, incorporating post-chapter meeting get-togethers at a variety of venues and continuing chapter scholarship fundraising efforts.
What are some chapter traditions?
Chapter traditions we are most proud of are the annual Spring Blue & Gold Dinner. We have hosted half of the university’s 12 presidents and display our Blue & Gold pride by celebrating KSU Founder’s Day on May 19. View our Facebook page, KSULakeCounty, for more information on chapter happenings.
How can alumni, friends and family become involved?
The best way to learn more about us and to become involved is to attend an event or chapter meeting. By participating in events such as 91²Ö¿â’s Alumni Day of Service you can connect with fellow Lake County Golden Flashes by giving back and making an impact in the community.
The chapter looks to increase the number of active alumni in the area to sustain the chapter’s legacy. For additional information on becoming involved with us, contact chapter president Ray DelaMotte, ’77, at RDelaMotte@brandstettercarroll.com, or Jill Pecoraro, ’09, M.Ed., at jpecorar@kent.edu.
